Vanity Crash is an American glam-rock band from Cleveland, Ohio.
History
Vanity Crash was created after members of the cast of Cleveland Public Theatre’s production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch decided to continue performing together as a dedicated rock band. Following two sold-out seasons of the musical, the musicians carried the show’s glam-punk spirit into an original project of their own.
Drawing influence from artists such as David Bowie and T. Rex, as well as modern experimental rock, Vanity Crash developed a theatrical, riff-driven sound. The band has performed widely throughout Northeast Ohio and has shared the stage with national acts including the New York Dolls, Poison, Semi Precious Weapons, The Darkness, Gogol Bordello, and Constantine Maroulis.
Vanity Crash released its self-titled debut album to regional critical response. The band later released the concept album Yours, Justice, which features guest contributions from musicians including Brian Hager of The Chromes, Mike Garson of David Bowie’s band, and Mark Gamiere of Screw Tractor and The Wake.
