X-X (also stylized X_______X) is a no wave and art-punk band from Cleveland, Ohio, formed in 1978 by guitarist and vocalist John D. Morton. The group emerged from the same avant-garde underground scene that produced the Electric Eels, with Morton bringing a confrontational, experimental style to the new project. The band’s original lineup included bassist Andrew Klimek, violinist Jim Ellis, and drummer Anton Fier, establishing X-X as one of the more distinctive and abrasive acts of the late-1970s Cleveland scene.<ref> X-X (band), Wikipedia. History

X-X was formed in Cleveland in 1978 by John D. Morton, following his earlier work with the Electric Eels. Joined by Andrew Klimek, Jim Ellis, and Anton Fier, the band developed a raw, aggressive sound influenced by no wave, experimental rock, and the abrasive tendencies of the Cleveland underground. Their 1979 single received attention within the region’s punk and avant-rock communities.

Interest in the band resurfaced in the 2010s, leading to renewed activity and the release of archival and new recordings.
