History
The Kneecappers emerged in Cleveland’s Flats district during the late 1970s, playing at Fitzpatrick’s Rainbow, a small bar that became an early punk showcase when the Backdoor Men began booking bands there.<ref> The first wave continued – The Kneecappers, ClePunk. Retrieved {{{access-date}}}.

Archival recordings by the Kneecappers were later compiled on the LP Urban Kill, released in 1996 by Buckwheat Headlock Productions and sourced from studio and live material recorded between 1978 and 1980, including sessions at WRUW-FM in Cleveland and facilities in Lorain and at Case Western Reserve University.<ref> Kneecappers – Urban Kill LP, Discogs. Previously unreleased live material from a 1979 performance at Fitzpatrick’s was later issued as the digital album Kneecappers LIVE @ Fitzpatrick's (The Flats) Feb. 19, '79, documenting a complete set from the period.<ref> Kneecappers – Artist page, Amazon Music. Retrieved {{{access-date}}}.
