Urgent Care is a punk rock band from Cleveland, Ohio, known for its self-described “healthcare” theme and stylized medical imagery. The group released its debut full-length album, Fast Medicine, in late 2023. The album subsequently received national attention through reviews in Maximum Rocknroll and Upstarter Punk Reviews.
History
Urgent Care emerged from the Cleveland punk scene and began issuing music publicly through its Bandcamp page. The band uses medical-themed visuals and humor in both its artwork and promotional materials, along with the tagline “the nation’s preeminent Healthcarecore band.”
The group’s debut album, Fast Medicine, was released at the end of 2023. The record drew critical coverage, including a feature review in Upstarter Punk Reviews, which described the album as a “14-track back alley lobotomy of snarling, snotty, punk rock and roll,” noting its blend of rock-based structures, fuzz-driven guitars, and comedic lyrical themes surrounding minor ailments and medical hazards.<ref> Urgent Care – Fast Medicine, Upstarter Punk Reviews. Maximum Rocknroll also reviewed Fast Medicine in its April 2024 issue (MRR #491). The magazine noted the album’s intentionally thematic songwriting and characterized the musical approach as bare-bones punk delivered with a “herky-jerky style.”<ref> Urgent Care – Fast Medicine CD, Maximum Rocknroll, April 2024.
